Patchouli is a fragrance extracted from a beautiful herbaceous plant in the mint family. It's scientific name is Pogostemon cablin, but that's not as important as how it smells. Vibrantly earthy and musky, it has been extremely popular in soaps, oils, and incense for centuries in Asia, and now all over the world.

This plant's essential oils are extracted by steam distillation. We use it in many of our essential oil blends in the Shadow Scents product line.
The essential oil itself has wonderful anti fungal properties and is good for your skin.
In aromatherapy, it helps encourage relaxation and relieve depression.
It's magical uses focus mainly on prosperity and abundance. It is often used in spells to draw money.
The other main magical use of patchouli is for love and attraction. It is known to stimulate the root chakra, although this can result in more passionate encounters vs actual long term relationships.
Patchouli had its heyday in the 60s and 70s, during the days of hippies and free love. Everyone was wearing it then. The scent by itself is very strong and although many people love it, many people also hate it. Perhaps it is somewhat of an acquired taste. Either way, it's popularity is still going strong. We have multiple versions of Patchouli in every incense and scented oil product line we sell. Lovers of this magical scent will not be lacking in choices.
